Our Charitable Trust in Action

2023 in review

Our impact

The Trust has played a significant part in enabling greater access to the outdoors to a wide range of individuals, recently granting funds to both small and large initiatives. A selection of the work funded is listed below:

• Supporting an outward-bound adventure week in the Lake District for 60 young people from a school in East London that have little opportunity to access the countryside

• Funding additional places for people from all walks of life getting outdoors to contribute to recovering from physical and mental trauma in collaboration with AGS Foundation

• Providing signposts for people using the Greater Manchester Ringway and the Calderdale Way

• Assisting extraordinary children with special educational needs in Wales to achieve bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh awards

• Enabling cubs, scouts, brownies, guides, beavers and squirrels in Hertfordshire to resume camping expeditions by repairing a trailer

• Supporting local Ramblers walking groups in Norfolk, Sheffield, Wiltshire, and Shropshire

• Establishing a new Duke of Edinburgh centre in Bradford

• Funding bursaries for people to use the outdoors as safe space to enhance overall well-being supported by a professional support network in collaboration with Mind Over Mountains

• Providing funding to support production of storytelling literature specially designed to help children with additional learning needs to engage with nature in Scotland.
