The Peak District

Dawn O'Farrell | Thu 27 May 2010

In the extremely safe hands of our expert leader Katherine Bagshaw, who lives in Edale and is one of Ramblers Worldwide Holidays “Hutting Leaders”, we set off to Hollins Cross via Hardenclough Farm and along the ridge to Lose Hill, with fine views towards both Kinder Scout to the North, Castleton to the South, Win Hill and beyond. From Lose Hill we descended the road to Hope, crossed the road and took the gentle tracks up to Hope Cross, we stopped off here for lunch.

We were doing extremely well for time so it was decided to return using a slightly longer route via Crookstone Out Moor, Southern End with Kinder Views, Lady Bower and The Edges, we ended up on “Ringing Roger” rocks before descending the last few metres and having a really enjoyable pint in a local pub.

A perfect way to spend a beautiful Saturday…albeit a little hot at times!!

Sitting at my desk this Monday morning feeling a lot fitter and more exhilarated than I have for a long time (and indeed very proud of myself) – my next quest will be ….a hutting tour!!! After training of course!!
