Travel Jargon

Every industry has it's jargon, and the holiday industry is no different. Although we aim to communicate with you whenever possible in plain English, you may sometimes hear the following being referred to:

Allocation       The agreed number of places reserved by a hotel or other service provider for a holiday group
Availability       Free places remaining on a holiday, flight or in a hotel
Carrier       An airline
e-ticket       A paperless travel document
HI       Holiday Information Sheet
Pax       Passengers, Travellers or Group Participants
P.I.R.       Property Irregularity Report - a form to be filled in at the airport when luggage is damaged or delayed
