Flying from Gatwick, we join the ship in Cape Town and cruise along the stunningly beautiful coastline, stopping to discover amazing wildlife and natural landscapes. Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Richards Bay, Durban and Mossel Bay are all part of the itinerary and we overnight at most ports, allowing us to experience South Africa’s unique landscapes. These holidays begin with an overnight hotel stay in Cape Town.
Port Elizabeth: We take a 4 x 4 adventure through Addo National Elephant Park to see elephants, Cape
buffalo and more in their natural habitat. Day 2 sees us on a locally guided city tour.
Richards Bay: Set within Zululand, we take a trip to Hluhluwe Game Reserve and walk along the
superb beaches to The Cave of the Bats.
Durban: We take a tour with a local guide to explore the largest city in the province of KwaZulu
Natal and visit The Kwa Mashu Apartheid Museum which is acknowledged as the
pre-eminent museum in the world, dealing with 20th century South Africa.
Mossel Bay: With a rich history, it’s hardly surprising that there are several important museums here. Apart from the Maritime Museum, there are others devoted to the wild ?ower of the area, to seashells and to local cultural history. We explore the museums with a local guide and there may be time to walk along one of the white-sand beaches.
Cape Town: There’s much to discover during almost three days in the ‘Mother City’. Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain and walk down into Kirstenbosch Gardens and visit District 6, a former inner-city residential area whose inhabitants were forcibly removed during the apartheid years. Spend a day visiting the stunning scenery at Cape Point and the penguins of Boulders Beach.
