An idyllic walk along the South West Coast Path brings us into the tranquil waters of the Helford Estuary, then through the lush foliage of Glendurgan Gardens.
From Dunseverick Castle on Ireland’s north coast we follow the cliff-tops on foot to the Giants’ Causeway.
A morning visiting the Castle and Holyrood Palace is followed by a walk up Arthur’s Seat in the afternoon, with splendid views over the city, Firth of Forth and out to sea.
We climb one of the most iconic peaks of the Westem Isles, Skye’s Old Man of Storr, with views to Raasay, Harris and many other islands.
We climb Cnoc Fairish for views over Dornoch and Cromarty Firths. Later we can visit Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain.
From the Kitchener Memorial we walk across moorland and along cliff tops to the Orkney Islands’ most famous site, Scara Brae.
The pastel-painted houses of Mull’s main town are the starting point for our walk east from the port, passing waterfalls and lily-covered lochs.
We walk along the coast from Holyhead to Breakwater Park, then onto the lower slopes of Holyhead Mountain continuing to viewpoints over North Stack and South Stack.

REVIEWING THE FLEET
Fred. Olsen’s fleet of four cruise ships have a traditional cruise liner look and feel and a scale that is both welcoming and human. Being smaller than the huge modern ‘resort’ style ships, they can get into smaller ports and have less need to use tender boats to get ashore. With fewer passengers the crew is able to offer a friendly and attentive service. There’s a variety of entertainment on all ships for you to dip in and out of, or plenty of space just to quietly relax.
On board facilities include two swimming pools, a fitness centre, a sauna, a beauty salon, a sun deck, Jacuzzis, several lounges and bars, a card room, library, internet room and restaurants. The ship has a medical centre, and a shop where you can buy essentials such as sun cream or toiletries. There is also a laundrette and ironing room on board.
Dress code on board
Fred. Olsen has altered its dress code to allow for a smart casual option. There will still be formal nights on selected evenings, but the relaxed dress code will apply on all other nights. This means men can wear open necked shirts, chinos and dark coloured jeans, and women a dress or casual separates.
Drinks Inclusive package
A Drinks Inclusive Package is available for £20 per person per night but must be added at the time of booking. The offer includes bar drinks such as wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks (but not cocktails, premium drinks, minibar drinks, room service or events such as an additional afternoon tea visit).

Stylish, contemporary and with a five deck high atrium and large windows, Braemar has a light and open feel. There are two swimming pools on the Marquee Deck and cascading decks at the stern to give a mix of both open and more intimate outside space. Inside there’s no shortage of public space either, with cafés, bars, lounges.
Sister ship to Black Watch, Boudicca was named after the warrior queen of the ancient Britons. This classically styled liner lives up to its impressive name providing good accommodation, excellent catering, and the attentive service that’s only really possible on a smaller ship.
Before the jet set arrived, cruise ships were once the height of style, charm and sophistication. Black Watch with its sleek styling, traditional atmosphere and comfortable cabins harks back to the heyday of the cruise liner. Still sailing on world cruises, Black Watch continues to provide a world–class cruising experience to travellers today.
Carrying around 1300 passengers, Balmoral is the largest ship in Fred. Olsen’s fleet. Although considerably smaller and more intimate than most cruise ships launched in recent years, the cabins are comfortable and well appointed. There’s plenty of public space both inside and outside for everyone to relax into, and swimming pools on decks 7 and 11.
UK departure ports vary, please see the individual itineraries for details.
Holiday: the sight-seeing component could have been even higher. one can spend a lot of time walking and miss out a bit on some of the 'sights', but striking the right balance is very difficult i appreciate, and everyone has different preferences. the leadership of gillian and chris browne was excellent, and unfaultable!
