Walking, meditation and yoga beside the sea in Majorca
In today’s world, being busy and stressed can be the norm. Escape with us to sunny Majorca and replenish your diminished energy. Take time out to live in the moment, reflect on life and develop some tried and tested coping strategies.
The mild, dry climate of Majorca makes the island ideal for walking and relaxing during much of the year. The core activity on this holiday will be walking in the unspoilt surroundings of south west Majorca with the opportunity to experience mindfulness related themes throughout the walks. Below the jagged summits of the island’s mountain ranges, the upper slopes are terraced and cultivated with olive, carob and fig; on the lower slopes are the huertas, small citrus orchards irrigated by a host of narrow canals. These beautiful landscapes are best enjoyed on foot where you cantake in the fresh air and clear your mind.
Although in general paths are often stony, rough and steep, thepace will be unhurried and your efforts are rewarded by fine views across the hills and along the coast. You’ll frequently be amazed at the fantastic seascapes. Some of the walking will be in silence with targeted activities to help you to connect with your surroundings and with yourself.
You’ll be able to engage in some gentle yoga and short meditations, suitable for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. The yoga will pay attention to those areas of the body that support walking activity so you can make the most of both the physical and mental activity.
Our home for the week is San Telmo, a quiet, attractive settlement on the south-west corner of Majorca overlooking the uninhabited island of Dragonera. Here the Sierra Tramuntana mountain range meets the sea. There are several walks directly from the hotel and a good local bus service allows us to explore further afield. The tree-covered hills surrounding the bay spread northwards and along the coast to meet the mountains of western Majorca.
