Exploring the Pink City of Marrakech and beyond
Guided Walking Holidays - Minarets & Mountains
Marrakech is a city of bustling souks, towering minarets, ochre ramparts and colourful spice markets. With quiet gardens, orange blossom lined boulevards and stunning Atlas Mountain views, you have a destination that enriches all the senses. Experience this journey with Ramblers Walking Holidays.
Our guided sightseeing takes us to the well known Djemaa el Fna square through the busy derbs of the Medina into the souk where you’ll see spices, colourful fabrics and blacksmiths at work. You’ll even have the opportunity for some haggling with the locals! The Koutoubia, a symbol of the city, stands tall across the roof tops, the museums showcase ancient art, and the tranquil gardens are a welcome rest from the city. Out of Marrakech our walks lead us to quiet villages, local markets, to the coast at Essaouira and to a Berber house for mint tea. All this with the High Atlas Mountains as our backdrop adds to the atmosphere.
Moroccan cuisine, influenced from Spain, Arabia and France, is an intriguing combination of aromas and colours, flavoured with subtle spices, dried fruits, nuts and olives. Visit an early morning market to buy ingredients to cook your own tagine lunch, enjoy local restaurants offering an infusion of French Moroccan dishes and visit the famous La Mamounia Hotel and gardens (once a firm favourite of Winston Churchill) for a pre dinner drink.Through Heart & Sole, we hope to make a difference to the communities we visit on our holidays, particularly in less developed countries.
