The High Atlas Mountains are a mystical place. They stretch across Morocco to the south west of Marrakech forming a huge natural barrier dividing the more fertile north of the country from the Sahara desert to the south. The highest point, Mt Toubkal at 4167m provides a stunning backdrop to our holiday.
No visit to Morocco should be considered without planning to spend some time in Djemaa el Fna, the main square in the centre of Marrakech. An intense experience and a great introduction to the country. We have one night in Marrakech before heading off to the cool of the mountains and our trek to Toubkal. We drive to the Atlas foothills to meet our trekking crew and the mules used to carry all our trekking equipment. You need only carry a day sack with camera and water. The weather in the Atlas is very much cooler than Marrakech generally you can expect to walk in pleasant temperatures.
Over the next 4 days we trek through valleys and over mountain passes immersing ourselves in local culture, always with the backdrop of the stunning Atlas scenery.
On finishing our trek we say good bye to mules and muleteers and return to Marrakech for a final day sightseeing this extraordinary city.
Please note you will be supplied with a Water to Go filter water bottle for the holiday. This will allow to fill up with water at many places in the mountains and removes the need to buy bottled water and avoid all the pollution issues this entails.
Currently all passengers arriving in Morocco are required to download, print and sign a Passenger Health Form before arrival in Morocco.
