Uncover the Welsh Coast on Foot

Ramble Worldwide | Tue 08 Feb 2022

If you’re planning a walking holiday in the UK, look no further than Wales and its incredible coastline. The entire distance is marked with one continuous route, the Wales Coast Path, which is a staggering 870 miles long. You’ll find stunning vistas, beautiful pathways and some of the best walks in Wales located along the way, making it an ideal location for rambling.

We have picked three of the most alluring areas along the Welsh coast where you can embark on an idyllic, yet active break.

The Gower Peninsula

Ramble over the golden, sandy beaches in the tranquil Gower Peninsula, a captivating spot in the southwest of Wales. The Gower was the UK’s first-ever designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and with its variety of remarkable features - including historic Norman castles, dramatic limestone cliffs, hidden caves and picturesque seaside villages - it’s not hard to see why.

Spend time admiring this location’s idyllic scenery on our four-night break. As you venture on close to 10-mile walks each day, you will get to experience the gems that this area has to offer.

Anglesey

Well-known for its magnificent beaches and fascinating historical sites, the Isle of Anglesey is a handsome island off the mainland’s northwest coast. Boasting dazzling shores and rolling green hills, the astounding landscape here is a stunning example of Wales’ bountiful countryside.

Since Anglesey is only small in size, you can truly make the most of it on a walking holiday. Our itinerary aims to cover all four corners of this destination, ensuring you take on treks on every side of the island, stopping at each of its most important sites.

From the moment you cross over the iconic Menai Suspension Bridge, you’ll be captivated by the wonder of Anglesey.

The Pembrokeshire Coast

The Pembrokeshire Coast is famed for being a perfect place for walkers and nature lovers alike. The striking cliffs rise out of the deep blue Irish sea, providing a breathtaking image of beauty.

Hiking this part of the coastline follows the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which is one of the eight sections that make up the Wales Coast Path. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some of the local marine life along the way, including curious seals, dolphins and porpoises.

Plus, take full advantage of being in the area and amble along the Ceredigion shoreline too, savouring each moment in the great outdoors.
