The Dartmoor Way is a waymarked 108-mile (173km) long circular route around Dartmoor.
This new way travels along quiet footpaths, bridleways and little-used byways passing through many of the attractive towns and villages that nestle on the edge of Dartmoor. The route can be enjoyed all year round. Updating and improving The Dartmoor Way walking route took around 8 years to complete – as the whole route needed to be waymarked from scratch. Full waymarking of the route is now complete, with only some short sections of open moor not having signage, as it was felt inappropriate to install posts on wild and open moorland. The new walking trail now completely circles the Moor, a 108 mile route - a great challenge route, or one to do over a week's long holiday in the area.
RHCT have supported the later stages of this project by donating just over £18k to provide much needed funds to buy new signposts and tools for the volunteers. To read more about The Dartmoor Way on their new website, where you can download maps and route guides, click here
The route will be included on the next OS 1:25000 OL 28 Explorer map of Dartmoor, which will be published soon.
