High praise for Adagio’s Aragon Pyrenees

Ramble Worldwide | Sun 24 Jan 2016

Visitors to the Aragon Pyrenees have heaped high praise on their holiday there with Adagio – the experts in ‘gentle’ guided walking adventures. The following comments appeared recently on ‘Tripadvisor’.

“We stayed at the Casa Sarasa for a week of walking and sightseeing with Adagio Holidays ("The Aragon Pyrenees" trip). The accommodation was rustic in style, simple and comfortable. A lovely tranquil setting, we woke to the sound of nightingales. Between them our hosts, Peter and Mel, made sure we enjoyed an exceptional holiday. Mel’s breakfasts and evening meals (served with excellent wines) were delicious. The extent of Peter's knowledge of the area, from flora and fauna to local history and culture, was impressive and we benefited greatly from it. We probably would not have visited this beautiful area except as part of an organised group, and we consider ourselves very lucky. There are not many places where you might sit outside the door of your room and spot a red kite sitting in a nearby tree!”

Highlights of this Adagio holiday include, the Jaca Valley with its Romanesque churches, ancient villages and the town of Jaca itself, the site of Spain’s oldest cathedral; the high-altitude glacial plain of Aguas Tuertas with lunch in the Selva de Oza and time to explore the village of Hecho; a visit to the monastery of San Juan de la Peña, which is built under an overhanging cliff; walks on the ancient walled pathway between the white villages of Agüero and Murillo before visiting the spectacular fortress of Loarre and a local vineyard; stone circles, dolmens and menhirs of the Val Subordan; a visit to the Megalithic museum and an opportunity to see golden eagles, marmots and chamois amidst alpine views whilst on a high mountain ridge walk.

Price from £1,485 per person includes return flights, transfers, full board accommodation at the Casa Sarasa in Berdún, all entrance fees and local transport costs and the services of an Adagio tour specialist. For more information please visit www.adagio.co.uk or call us on 01707 386700.
