With so many places of interest to discover in this scenic district, we have designed this simple holiday to include short walks in Norfolk alongside visits to country houses. Our getaway combines five days of gentle coastal strolling with calls at grand stately homes and National Trust properties.
Our North Norfolk retreat is based in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you will get to soak up the picturesque surroundings on our relaxing daily ambles. Each walk is set within a laid-back, rolling landscape, making every day one to savour.
Your five-night break involves several easy-going activities, such as admiring the serene shoreline sights and stopping at magnificent manors. Saunter around the park at Blickling Estate and spot deer roaming the grounds at Holkham Hall. You will also have the flexibility to explore the area yourself at your own pace.
We will stay in the small and pretty village of Kelling, near to the historic market town of Holt. It’s surrounded by 250 acres of woodland heath and is within easy walking distance of the coast. Your comfortable accommodation is a charming four-star country house hotel, which complements this holiday perfectly.
Norfolk Walks with Adagio
During your time away, we will lead you to a number of local stately homes and National Trust protected properties. For instance, you’ll drop by 17th-century Felbrigg Hall, where you can look around the building’s authentic rooms, as well as the attractive walled garden and the Orangery. Wander along the paths in the 520-acre estate here, which is home to woodland walks, parkland and a lake.
You will also visit the stunning Holkham beach for a meander on the sand, as well as the seaside towns of Cromer and Wells-next-the-Sea. Transport will be used each day to take us to our destinations, which will be in the form of a private minibus on a couple of days and public buses on the others.
Your Adagio leader will let you know where you have to be and at what time, so all you need to do is relax and enjoy the scenery. If you’d like to uncover more of North Norfolk, book a tranquil escape with Adagio, today.

The Pheasant Hotel
Check-in at the Pheasant Hotel is from 3:00 pm. You will be greeted by your Adagio Leader who will lead a short walk for those interested from the hotel to the coast path at 4:00 pm.
Felbrigg Hall & Cromer
The Pheasant Hotel
This morning we travel by private coach to Beeston Regis to start our walk to the 17th century National Trust house of Felbrigg Hall. You have time to visit the hall, walled garden and parkland. After lunch, we walk to the seaside town of Cromer and have some free time to explore. Take a walk on the pier, go crab fishing, swim or paddle at the beach (don't forget your swimwear!) or even climb the 172 steps to the top of Norfolk’s tallest church tower.
The Pheasant Hotel
A private coach takes us to Blickling Estate for a morning walk around the lake and park. You can join one of the garden tours if you would like to learn about the gardens in more depth and the history of their creation. You will have some free time to look around the Jacobean Blickling Hall before our coach takes us back to the hotel in the afternoon.
The Pheasant Hotel
We travel by private coach to Wells-Next-the-Sea and walk to Holkham beach, one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of sand in the country. From there we walk through the deer park to the 18th century Palladian mansion Holkham Hall for a visit. A public bus will then conveniently take us back to the hotel.
The Pheasant Hotel
We are able to walk direct from the hotel to the National Trust’s Sheringham Park. You will have time to wander around the park and woodland gardens. It is also possible to climb the gazebo to view the coast. We finish the day walking to Sheringham before returning to the hotel for our final evening meal.
Departure day and farewell to your Adagio Leader and other group members. Check out of the hotel is by 10:30 am. We hope you have enjoyed your holiday and look forward to welcoming you on another soon.
There are options on a couple of days to take your own car to Holkham Hall or Felbrigg Hall if you choose not to take part in the group walks. If you decide to do this, car parking charges may apply and we advise you discuss the options with your Adagio Leader.
The cost of entry to Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Estate is not included in the holiday cost as these properties are National Trust, so you may have a membership that can get you free of charge entry.
Walks & Excursions
We use a mix of privately hired vehicles, taxis, and public transport which gives us some flexibility in our itinerary. We have a wonderful programme of walking, sightseeing and visits planned to let you fully experience the area along with opportunities to relax at our wonderful hotel and enjoy your surroundings.
Local Transport Costs
We include the local travel costs using private hire coaches and the local Coast Hopper buses to travel back the hotel on some days. If you have a bus pass please bring this with you.
Our Adagio Leader will arrange everything. You just need to be at the right place at the right time.
Local transport costs, entrance fees and tips to local providers are included in your holiday price. You may wish to budget for any meals and drinks not included in the holiday arrangements, non-included entrance fees and any optional excursions you may choose to participate in locally. A general guideline for lunches and drinks is £10-£20 per person per day.
We include tips in the holiday cost and your Adagio Leader will take care of making sure tips are given to hotel and restaurant staff and to local guides and drivers. If you feel that someone has gone out of their way to make your holiday enjoyable or help you in anyway, please feel free to give a personal tip to the person should you wish. If you are having an independent lunch or other service not included in the holiday arrangements, tipping is at your own discretion.
We believe that the best things come in small packages, and our Adagio holidays prove just that. We limit our groups to a maximum of 18 persons, plus the Adagio Leader, so that everyone has the opportunity to mix, share their love of travel and return home with new friendships. Small groups also have less detrimental local impact, allows us to use public transport on some days, eat at small local restaurants and, we believe, offers a better experience.
Tour Leaders & Local Guides
An Adagio Leader will accompany you throughout the holiday. They are all experienced travellers with a love for exploring and will help capture the true essence of the destination with their stories, knowledge and insights. They are well-organised, pay great attention to detail and enjoy being with people. They are there to help make your holiday as enjoyable and stress free as possible.
Leader's Evening Briefing
Your Adagio Leader will discuss the programme for the following day with the group at each evening briefing. This will be your opportunity to find out more details and ensure the planned activities suit your walking ability. Also, if you have any questions or concerns on clothing or lunch arrangements, this can be discussed then. If you wish to opt out of the organised group programme, this is fine, just let your Leader know.
Your Travel Details
Check-in at the hotel is from 3:00pm. Our Adagio Leader will meet with you prior to your evening dinner for a group welcome meeting. Our Adagio Leader will also offer a local walk in the afternoon, leaving at 4:00pm.

The Ramblers Holidays Charitable Trust
Unlike many tour operators we have our own trust through which RWH Travel’s profits are channelled back into a variety of outdoor, walking-related or environmental conservation projects in the UK. The focus of the Trust’s financial support is Britain’s leading walking charity, The Ramblers, and their role in promoting the benefits and importance of walking to the British public. In addition the Trust welcomes applications for small grants from local organisations in the UK who need support for walking-orientated activities. This includes the establishment of footpaths and bridleways, funding for rebuilding bridges and renovating huts, as well as bursary funding for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for children who could not otherwise afford to do it. Please visit the ‘About Us’ section of our website and click on the Charitable Trust link for more details.
Heart and Sole
We appreciate that we are in a fortunate position to be able
to use our profits to help make a difference to people's lives.
Heart & Sole is a venture managed by our office staff, whose
aim is to reach the heart of the communities in the countries
we visit. Through Heart & Sole, we hope to make more of a long
term, direct impact to these communities, particularly in less
developed countries where even a small amount goes a long way.
See our website for more information and details of some of the
projects we support.
