What does this mean?
Tour codes: 28600
This two-week walking holiday is a grade 6 where we can expect moderate difficulty with full days of walking, up to 5 – 7 hours and between 6-10 miles a day. Paths can sometimes be in remote areas with steep ascents and descents. Some areas have soft ground whilst others will include rough terrain. Our walks will be exhilarating, the terrain will be rocky in many places and uneven under foot, walking poles will be useful. The highest point reached on this holiday where we ascend Sivri Peak at 1750m.
A English speaking local guide will accompany us throughout our holiday. We are in for a treat as our guides wealth of knowledge will help us to follow the footsteps of St Paul through Turkeys second long-distance trail. We will be given an introduction into the intriguing history, fascinating geology, and very unusual architecture of this region. Our guide will accompany us throughout the tour.
Overview
St Paul's Trail is a 500km path from Perge to Yalvaç, near Lake Egirdir. The route starts at sea level at the Mediterranean shore and climbs up to 2200m to Turkey’s mountainous centre. We'll start our exploration in Perge and Selge, making our way through the Koprulu National Park to Caltepe, Kasimlar, Sagalassos and Egirdir.
Our local guide will bring the trail to life as we explore the historical city of Selge before following the trail through vast forests and unique rock formations. We follow the course of the Köprülü River and the canyon, passing deep pools and rocky slopes. We visit the Prostanna ruins and walk to the top of Sivri Hill for a fantastic view of the Egirdir lake.
We immerse ourselves in Turkish traditional culture. We stay in local pensions and small family run hotels, and experience traditional and locally sourced Turkish dishes made with fresh ingredients, sometimes from the accommodation's own gardens. Some of our evening dinners will be a typically Turkish where we'll sit on the ground and eat from low tables!
The small villages dotting the path are remote and accommodation can be challenging to find as options are small, sparse and simplistic, therefore we are extremely lucky to be able to walk this path as a group.
This holiday will leave you wanting to discover more of Turkey and its second long-distance trail.

Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to the outlined itinerary and advertised programme, local conditions can change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. This may mean that routes and timings need to be amended or the order of days may change, sometimes at short notice.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we may unfortunately need to withdraw a tour that is currently confirmed to operate and we therefore reserve the right to cancel your booking. We would always do our utmost to give you plenty of notice should we have to do this. Selected elements of this tour, including local attractions and restaurants, may change at late notice. Please ensure you have valid insurance cover before you travel.

Antalya is a large city on a low plateau surrounded by magnificent mountains. It has been an important centre since ancient times and has antiques from various ages including ancient city walls, a roman gate, mosques and churches. The archaeology museum houses a fabulous collection of statues, tombs and other artefacts from the site and other sites in the area. The old town and harbour are charming. There are many places to explore including parks, the small souvenir and handicrafts shops and stalls. There are also many facilities you would expect including restaurants, cafes, shops and banks.
The Aspen Hotel is located in the centre of Kaleici; also known referred to as Old Antalya, situated in the heart of Antalya's historic old town. The hotel is a former Ottoman house, so has plenty of authentic Turkish character. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, a sauna and a lounge bar. Please note that we cannot guarantee that the swimming pool will be open during your stay.
We stay in standard rooms with views of either Kaleici, the garden, pool or the yacht harbour. Room facilities include:
The Perge Pension is located on the border of Koprulu Canyon National Park. There is a beautiful natural spring pool and a restaurant. Rooms are in wooden bungalows and include private ensuite facilities, air conditioning and internet connection.

Erdinç is an expert on local hiking trails. The rooms are set in a stone cottage with a long-shared veranda. All rooms have private ensuite bathrooms with showers. Bedrooms in the pensions are very basic with no extra room facilities such as hairdryers or mini fridges, but they are clean and well maintained.
Abdurrahman and his wife run a friendly pension on the edge of the village of Kasimlar. The rooms are built in wooden bungalow style. Breakfasts and dinners are taken in the communal living room in the traditional Turkish style where you sit on the ground and eat from low tables. Responsible Travel
We're committed to ethical tourism in all our destinations. Our holidays are designed for you to discover the essence of the country you are visiting. Travelling in small groups not only gives you an up close and personal experience of your destination, but minimises your impact on the immediate environment. We feel that the most important starting point to protect the environment is to be out in it. For more details visit our website.
The Ramblers Holidays Charitable Trust
Unlike many tour operators we have our own trust through which RWH Travel’s profits are channelled back into a variety of outdoor, walking-related or environmental conservation projects in the UK. The focus of the Trust’s financial support is Britain’s leading walking charity, The Ramblers, and their role in promoting the benefits and importance of walking to the British public. In addition the Trust welcomes applications for small grants from local organisations in the UK who need support for walking-orientated activities. This includes the establishment of footpaths and bridleways, funding for rebuilding bridges and renovating huts, as well as bursary funding for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for children who could not otherwise afford to do it. Please visit the ‘About Us’ section of our website and click on the Charitable Trust link for more details.
Heart and Sole
We appreciate that we are in a fortunate position to be able to use our profits to help make a difference to people's lives. Heart & Sole is a venture managed by our office staff, whose aim is to reach the heart of the communities in the countries we visit. Through Heart & Sole, we hope to make more of a long term, direct impact to these communities, particularly in less developed countries where even a small amount goes a long way. See our website for more information and details of some of the projects we support.
Mobile Phones
Please do provide us with a mobile phone contact number. We will only use this to contact you with important information relating to your holiday arrangements.
Do keep your mobile phones switched on and readily available when travelling to the airport or if delayed in transit so that we can contact you with any last minute information relating to your travel arrangements.
As a matter of courtesy, please switch off your mobile phone during walks, or endeavour to minimise its use. Please also try to minimise the use of mobile devices during group meals.
