Cruise the three main rivers of Germany
Experience the beauty of Germany to the full with a mix of picturesque destinations – all steeped in history – along with scenic cruising through forest-covered mountains and the breath taking Rhine, Main and Moselle valleys.
SHORE WALKS AND EXCURSION HIGHLIGHTS:
Cologne - With a local guide we explore this delightful town; including a visit to the ornate, twin-spired UNESCO listed Cathedral. A picnic lunch is taken from the ship with free time in the city during the afternoon before returning to the ship.
Cochem - Having diverted down the Moselle, we spend the morning visiting the restored 11th century castle and strolling along the waterfront, with its pretty pastel coloured buildings.
Koblenz - We wake to over 2000 years of history in the city where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet. A short journey across the river by cable car brings us to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, the second largest preserved fortress in Europe. Our return by cable car should allow some free time in town to enjoy some of the local highlights.
Miltenberg - Our short stay in this traditional German treasure trove of medieval half-timbered architecture allows us time to explore the town and its traditional market square.
Würzburg - An afternoon is spent in this pretty German town from where we visit the Residenz Palace & Gardens and walk up to explore the Marienburg Fortress.
Bamberg - Known as the 'Franconian Rome' as the town was built on seven hills, each one crowned by a beautiful church. Time permitting we include visits to the UNESCO listed Old Town, Cathedral, the Old Town Hall, Alte Hofhaltung, the former imperial residence and the former fisherman’s district known as 'Little Venice'.
