Walking Holidays in Guadeloupe

The filming location for the popular BBC drama series Death in Paradise, the scenery in Guadeloupe truly is to die for. The blissful sandy beaches and vibrant sea life found here make this beautiful small group of islands an excellent spot for both a relaxing break and a memorable walking holiday.

Located in the southern Caribbean Sea, Guadeloupe is a small island group with a population of just under 400,000. It’s comprised of six islands, the main two of which (Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre) being separated only by the Riviere Salee.

While perhaps lesser known than neighbouring islands such as Antigua, Montserrat and Dominica, Guadeloupe is recognised for its sugarcane fields and beautiful beaches, and on our ‘Islands In The Caribbean’ holiday, you’ll get to explore these very beaches. Our itinerary includes a stroll through the scenic locations used in the Death in Paradise TV show, before embarking on a short glass-bottomed boat tour.

Guadeloupe was originally called Karukera, which translates to ‘place of beautiful waters’, so you’ll have plenty to look out for when gazing down at the sea through the boat’s glass base. The waters surrounding Guadeloupe are home to colourful coral reefs and a wealth of stunning sea-life, including turtles, starfish, seahorses and multi-coloured fish, all of which ensure Guadeloupe lives up to its former name.
