Overview

Holiday Highlights

  • St Petersburg - A city whose golden buildings and treasures leave many people speechless.
  • Stockholm - Built across 14 islands, you are never far from the water
  • Tallinn - Capital of Estonia, Tallinn is an up and coming place
  • Riga – Our walking tour with a local guide includes Riga Castle, Cathedral and the Powder Tower, the Swedish Gate entrance to the Old Town
  • Get to know the more sedate side of the Baltics in Baltiysk and Saarema.
  • Experience delicious food, superior customer service and fine comfort on board a Fred. Olsen ship.
  • Relax onboard during our days at sea, enjoy a beverage at the bar, maybe take a swim in the pool or perhaps treat yourself to a relaxing sauna.

The Baltic Sea is an extraordinary place. Surely there is nowhere else on earth where such stunning cities, the product of centuries of culture and enterprise, are just a stone’s throw from spectacular scenery, some of it virtual wilderness.

In most of our ports of call we will spend time with local guides whose knowledge of both major historical events and quirky local customs brings greater insights and enjoyment to our forays ashore. Equally we allow some free time in each port for you to explore at leisure, and your Ramblers Cruise & Walk tour leaders is always able to offer interesting suggestions. And after each day ashore we will be able to return to the comfort, great food and entertainment on board.

After boarding your ship in Rosyth we head to sea for two days. Our first two ports of call are of the less visited destinations. Baltiysk which is the gateway to Kaliningrad a small Russian Province nestled between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic coast. Sailing overnight we stop in Saaremaa a small island in Estonia which in the past was a popular bolt hole for pirates.

We are really into the Baltics when reach Tallinn which feels like you have been transported back to the middle ages before reaching St Petersburg. Here we have two busy days exploring the best of this frankly impressive architecture, from the Winter Palace and Hermitage to the Summer Palace at Peterhof. St Petersburg has to be seen to be believed!

Popular Riga offers the chance to discover the local monuments such as Riga Castle and Cathedral.  Our final stop before sailing back to the UK is Klaipeda, on the western coast of Lithuania we take time to explore the diverse range of sites.
