Here you can immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the rainforest as you sail down the mighty Amazon River. Take time to experience a taste of local life at a river port along the way or set out on a thrilling canopy walk.

Very few places on Earth feature such a diverse array of flora and fauna, and this exhilarating cruise is the perfect way to experience it for yourself. We go in search of wildlife, view the natural phenomenon of the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ and take in a jungle trek. As well as two full days in Barbados and a day in Tobago.

Our unique shore walks and excursions include:

Barbados: We walk through the lush tropical world of Welchman’s Hall Gully and Andromeda Gardens, Gun Hill Signal station, George Washington House maybe enjoy a flying fish sandwich lunch at Sunbury Plantation.

Manaus: In the heart of the Amazon we travel by water and on foot to learn jungle survivalskills in the middle of the Brazilian jungle, accessible only by plane or boat.

Parintins: Host to Brazil's second biggest festival after Rio’s Carnival. We visit the colourful floating market and, with a local guide, explore the town.

Santarém: We experience the unique ‘Meeting of the Waters’ where the different coloured Tapajos and Amazon rivers flow side-by-side without mixing.

Tobago: With a local guide we travel to the main ridge of Tobago. We walk along the Gilpin Trace trail, well known for its birds. We then drive down to the coast for some more bird spotting and sightseeing.

    A shore visit programme organised by us and led by your tour leader. Almost all transport costs for our walking and sightseeing programmes from the ports visited. Occasionally there may be an optional museum entrance or cable car fare to pay for locally. Details are in our Holiday Information Sheets.

    Walking tours with local guides around many of the cities we visit.

    Tips to the restaurant staff on the ship – we ask you to tip your cabin staff, however.

    A full on board entertainment programme including stage shows, ship’s band and musicians, comedy and guest speakers. You can enjoy as much or as little as you choose.

Braemar

Our cruise ship is the stylish and contemporary Braemar. Refurbished and lengthened in 2008 she has eight decks and 485 passenger cabins carrying 929 passengers. The ship has a friendly and attentive crew of 371. Described as elegant and captivating, with a five-deck tall atrium which creates a sense of spaciousness, and which gives access to the Coral Club, Palms Café and Neptune Lounge, she is well equipped for your stay. On board facilities include two swimming pools, a fitness centre, a health & beauty salon, a sun deck, Jacuzzis, several lounges and bars, a card room, library, internet room and restaurants. The ship has a medical centre, a boutique, a shop where you can buy essentials such as sun cream or toiletries, and there is also a laundrette and ironing room on board. After dinner there are always shows, reviews and evenings of cabaret for your entertainment. Choose from the Neptune Lounge for an evening show or perhaps head to the Coral Club for an after dinner drink and to enjoy the resident band. Our accommodation is in twin and single cabins with shower and wc. All cabins are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, television, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and a safety deposit box. Braemar has a non-smoking throughout the ship. Allocated cabins will be an inside cabin (normally on the Marina or Atlantic Deck) unless you have paid a supplement to upgrade. Your cabin steward will keep your cabin in immaculate condition throughout your stay, replacing any linen or towels as or when required. Separate towels are provided for poolside use. Braemar operates a satellite telephone system, with telephones in each cabin, and personal mobile phones enabled for international roaming should work on board. The voltage on board the Braemar is supplied at 110 volts – 60 cycle (a U.S. style 2 pin plug is required) and 220 volt 60 cycle (requiring a continental style 2-pin plug). If you are in any doubt as to the appropriate voltage to use your electrical appliances on board, please check with the ship’s Reception Desk. Adapters are usually available for hire on board, or may be bought at the ship’s shop. Payment on board is in Sterling, and a credit account system is operated on board allowing purchases to be charged to your account which must be settled at the end of your cruise – see the Currency section for more details.
