Walking grade

Grade 6

This is a Grade 6 moderate holiday which includes full day walks with appreciable amounts of ascent and descent with walks in some remote areas. The paths are all good, but there will be some sections of rough ground and some walking close to the coast. Short sections could be problematic if you suffer with severe vertigo. Walks will be across moorland and coastal walks with some inland sections.

Walks will be between 9 and 13.5 miles. Whilst the highest point reached is only 120m, the undulating terrain means that both the cumulative ascent and descent on a couple of days will be in excess of 500m.

Classic Collection

Thoughtfully designed, meticulously planned, carefully graded, and expertly guided walking tours and hiking holidays along well-loved and off-the-beaten-track footpaths.

Overview

Holiday Highlights

  • Cwm yr Eglws, the ‘valley of the church’ with a secluded beach to enjoy.
  • The walk from Cwmtydu. Probably the best walk of the holiday.
  • Easy access to both the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coast paths from your hotel.
  • Enjoy impressive views of Poppit Sands from your room, with possible sightings of grey seals.
  • The Welsh language. Try and pick up a few words whilst here.

Join us for walks along spectacular stretches of the Ceredigion and Pembroke coastal paths. The walking programme will take you to pretty villages hugging the coast at the end of remote valleys running down to the sea. From the cliff top viewpoints, seals, dolphins and porpoises can often be seen. This excellent five-night holiday will guide you across the most spectacular stretches of the Ceredigion Coastal Path, as well as a selection of the area’s finest trails.

Your hotel sits above the mouth of the Teifi estuary. From here we have easy access to both the Ceredigion and the more famous Pembrokeshire coastal paths. Along the clifftop walks you pass through woods, moor and farmland. Walking south on the estuary path takes us through the ancient market town of Cardigan to St Dogmael’s Beach. Heading inland are the Preseli Hills and scenery of the Teifi Valley.

This holiday is a treat for the walker, wildlife enthusiast, historian and everybody else as well.

Today's walk is a moderate, high-level moorland walk, returning to Newport via the Pembrokeshire coast path. Expect panoramic views of Newport town, the surrounding coastline and Preseli hills, ancient settlements and remains, a lunch stop at peaceful Cwm yr Eglwys (with its perfect little bay and ruined church), and a relaxing cafe terrace to take tea at the end.

This walk offers classic moorland and coast path scenery, with some enjoyable stops along the way.

This is a beautiful section of the coast path, with some picturesque villages en-route. From little Cwmtydu, we walk (only in calm weather) some of the highest cliffs of this coastline, yielding impressive views of Cardigan Bay. Moving south, we encounter an iron-age fort, a giant’s tooth(!), pretty seaside villages, a waterfall, the occasional dolphin, and ever-changing views.

The series of ascents on this walk makes it more testing, but very worthwhile as it offers stunning views of the west coast of Wales (there are no narrow ledges or vertical drops).

This walk includes a quiet woodland section, cliffs with striking geological features, Cemaes Head (great for a lunch stop, often with seals down below), pleasant undulating farmland, a ruined chapel, and a chance to explore historic St Dogmaels and take tea beside the abbey ruins. Water To Go

Opting for filtered water from a reusable bottle with its built-in water filter, like the Water-to-go bottle available at www.watertogo.eu, is a sustainable alternative to single-use sealed water bottles. Simply refill it from any water source and contribute to saving the environment from disposable plastic bottles.

Exciting news: Water-to-go has introduced two new bottles to their collection. The Active bottle is designed to fit bike water bottle holders, and the Sugarcane bottle is an even more planet-friendly option. Crafted from fibrous cane, a by-product of liquid extraction, it undergoes a process to create plant-based plastic. Explore the details on the Water-to-Go website for this innovative new range.

As a token of appreciation for your commitment to the environment, we've secured an exclusive 15% discount with Water-to-Go for you. Visit www.watertogo.eu and use the code RWW15 during your order.

Unlike many other tour operators, we take pride in our unique approach. Ramble Worldwide channels its surplus profits back into various outdoor, walking-related, or environmental conservation projects in the UK through our own trust. When you choose us, you contribute to this impactful initiative.

The primary focus of our Trust's financial support is directed towards Britain's premier walking charity, The Ramblers. They play a crucial role in advocating the benefits and significance of walking to the British public. Additionally, our Trust invites applications for small grants from local organizations in the UK that require support for walking-oriented activities. This encompasses initiatives such as establishing footpaths and bridleways, funding for the reconstruction of bridges and refurbishing huts, and bursary funding for organisations that support individuals to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors..

For more comprehensive details, please visit the 'About' section on our website and click on the Charitable Trust link. Your choice to travel with us goes beyond a memorable vacation; it contributes to meaningful projects that have a positive impact on our community and environment.

Heart and Sole

We appreciate that we are in a fortunate position to be able to use our profits to help make a difference to people's lives. Heart & Sole is a venture managed by our office staff, whose aim is to reach the heart of the communities in the countries we visit. Through Heart & Sole, we hope to make more of a long term, direct impact to these communities, particularly in less developed countries where even a small amount goes a long way. See our website for more information and details of some of the projects we support.

Staying In Touch

Mobile Phones

Kindly share a mobile phone contact number with us. We'll utilize this solely for crucial communication pertaining to your holiday arrangements.

Ensure your mobile phone remains switched on and easily accessible when en route to the airport or during transit delays. This way, we can promptly reach you with any last-minute updates concerning your travel plans.

In consideration of others, we request that you switch off your mobile phone during walks or make an effort to limit its usage. Additionally, during group meals, please minimize the use of mobile devices. Your cooperation ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone on the journey.
