Where we stay

Where you stay is an important part of your holiday, so we select accommodation so that it will give you an authentic experience of your destinations.

Whatever holiday you have chosen, the accommodation will generally be in single and twin bedded rooms with a shower and WC.  Each holiday description gives you details specific to that holiday but there are always exceptions regarding room size, fixtures, fittings and views.

What will the accommodation be like?

In Europe we usually select small, comfortable, family-run hotels but this can vary depending on the destination.

In cities, you may stay in larger hotels and, conversely, more rural areas can offer much simpler accommodation. As part of some of our higher-grade walking holidays, like hutting for example, accommodation is largely in mountain huts where facilities are basic.  Similarly, on a trekking holiday you will be sleeping in tents most of the time.

On many of our long haul destinations, you will often find the accommodation to be of a particularly high standard, which makes these holidays outstanding value!

Where an official rating system operates we will state this (although this may not necessarily relate to British systems). We take steps to try and ensure that all accommodation complies with local fire, health and safety regulations. We cannot, however, guarantee that these will meet the standards expected in the UK.

The standard international practice is to let rooms from midday to midday. However times do vary. Check-in times are usually between 2pm and 3pm, checkout times between 11am and 12 noon on the day of departure. Therefore, if you check in immediately after a night flight, this would normally count as one night's accommodation. Similarly, if your return flight is at night, you will normally be expected to vacate your room at 12 noon prior to leaving for the airport. Day rooms are subject to availability / cost and should be arranged locally with the accommodation management.
