Ramblers Worldwide Holidays offer the chance for you to get the most out of a city. Take time to really discover the essence of a city, exploring its highlights on foot. It’s not just hustle and bustle - culture, history, art and architecture enthusiasts everywhere will be amazed at how much there is to see and do.
What can I expect?
Walking in our small groups, usually at lower grade walking levels, you get to the heart of a city, with time to absorb its unique atmosphere, understand its history and become part of the culture. These holidays have lots of sightseeing involved too so you can be sure you will see the most famous attractions – as well as the lesser-known ones!
Where can I go?
Europe has much to offer the city lover. From the UNESCO World Heritage City of Dubrovnik with its fifteenth century walls guarding the old town of Stari Grad to the Italian cities of Venice and Trieste. Venice is like no other place on earth - everywhere you look is a painting or a photograph. Marvel at the achingly beautiful St Mark's Square, explore the maze of narrow streets and travel by vaporetto (water bus) to Murano to watch the skilled glass-blowers at work. Trieste is a real contrast to Venice with its Austrian influence and style.
Further afield, why not visit Moscow and St Petersburg on our 11 day holiday. In Moscow, where the Soviet past collides with the capitalist fture, we visit the Kremlin and Novodevichy Convent. Moving on to St Petersburg, the former capital of the Russian Empire, we have the chance to see the Winter Palace and the Hermitage in our packed programme.
