Trekking Holidays

If you love walking and would like to experience high mountain ranges in a completely different way, then trekking could be for you. Don't be put off by the thought of a trek - if you are capable of the identical grade of walking on an hotel based tour and are in good health, then a trek could be just what you are looking for.

What can I expect?

On a Ramblers Worldwide trekking holiday, you are fully supported, which means that all your meals are cooked for you, all camping equipment is supplied (except a sleeping bag) and your belongings are carried for you, so all you need for a day’s trekking is water, a camera, spare clothing and perhaps a waterproof jacket. For the treks where you stay in tents, you will arrive at each campsite to find your tents up and waiting for you, giving you more time to admire the stunning scenery that surrounds you.

We feel that it is important to tell you that we have worked with our Nepalese partners for over 25 years, finding that they provide a high standard of care to trekkers and porters alike. We care deeply about our porters welfare and our leaders check regularly that standards are maintained.

Where can I go?

Our trekking holidays walk in the high mountains of Nepal and Peru.

In Nepal, our easiest trek is the D+/Ss Joys of Nepal. This is a 16 day holiday of which five nights are spent on trek staying in Tea Houses - simple Nepali lodges offering basic but clean accommodation. After a couple of days sightseeing in Kathmandu, we fly to Pokhara before starting our trek, travelling at a gentle pace with the stunning Annapurna range towering above us. After a day in Pokhara to relax we have more time for some great walking and sightseeing before we return home with lots of photos and even more memories!

If staying in tea houses appeals to you but you would like some more challenging walking, then our D+/C Everest Tea House Trek could be for you. This is another 16 day holiday but with nine days spent on trek in the shadow of Everest, the world's highest mountain. One of the real highlights of this holiday is the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, described by some as the most exciting sight-seeing flight in the world!

Our toughest Nepalese trek is the C grade Foothills of Annapurna. This is a 17 day holiday with eight nights spent on trek - this time staying in tents. As the name suggests, we walk in the foothills of Annapurna – a range with peaks of over three miles high!  You’ll be trekking and hiking at an altitude of up to 3000m, with views that are absolutely breathtaking.  You could not fail to be charmed by the friendly people you will meet each day in the simple mountain villages you pass through along the way. With a two night stay in the Chitwan National Park including looking for rhino from your vantage point on the back of an elephant, this is a real 'holiday of a lifetime'.
