Pioneer Walking Holidays

If you are looking for a more adventurous holiday, well off the tourist track, but not necessarily high grade walking, a Pioneer holiday may be for you.

What is a Pioneer walking holiday?

These are usually longer holidays and mostly long haul, exploring lesser-known destinations. Local conditions and facilities may be basic; events may require modifications to itineraries at short notice and there may be more travelling, possibly on poor roads - but the experience is well worth it!

New for 2009 is our Amazonian Explorer holiday. This sightseeing tour through the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador includes seven nights spent aboard the Manatee Amazon Explorer riverboat discovering the most diverse and abundant ecosystem in the world.

On our Land of the Rising Sun tour, we experience the contrasts of Japan. From our bullet train journey to Hiroshima to the 8th century city of Nara, from the neon lights of Tokyo and the Geisha in Kyoto to the mesmerising panorama from the Komagatake Ropeway, this holiday is sure to be one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences!

How about trying a tented-camp tour on our 17-day visit to Zambia and Botswana? We visit Chobe National Park in Botswana with one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent and the Okavango Delta (southern Africa's largest wetland) with its amazing variety of birds, reptiles and other wildlife.

These, along with the likes of South Korea, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands and The Falkland Islands with a taste of Chile make our Pioneer holidays really unique experiences!
