Central EuropeEnjoy the alpine paradise and the thrill of reaching high alpine peaks. Escape to wilderness and get a true sense of freedom. A network of footpath and cable cars helps us explore this perfect alpine area, taking us through meadows, scattered woodland and beside mountain streams, along ridges and panoramic paths, even to peaks. There are magnificent views over the glaciers lying cradled beneath the mighty summits that feed them your efforts will be well rewarded.
John has been a compulsive traveller and walks leader since high school. Having completed the Three Peaks challenge of ascending Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon within 24 hours he's also clearly got an adventurous streak. These days he leads mainly in Greece and Turkey with the odd trip to other destinations which have attracted his attention.
Our Central Europe Holidays
A week amongst waterside castles and vineyards
The loveliest stretch of the Rhine lies between Mainz and Koblenz; the remains of over 50 medieval castles line the banks of the river which runs through a 50 mile gorge. We walk in the footsteps of medieval minstrels and English Romantic poets; climb between river and hill-top castles.
With lakes, castles and stunning alpine views too!
Our holiday is based in the charming small Bavarian village of Bad Kohlgrub in the Ammer valley. During our week we’ll walk to beautiful lakes and waterfalls near Bad Bayersoien and Murnau, walk in and around the high mountains above Oberammergau and Garmisch, and visit some stunning Rococo buildings.
A magnificent trek around Mont Blanc.
Le Tour du Mont Blanc is the greatest walk in the world. As the circuit passes through France, Switzerland and Italy you view Europe’s highest mountain from all sides. Each day is different, yet each day provides walking along high alpine paths and views over peaks and glaciers.
Discover a romantic white wilderness.
Austria knows how to do winter - trees heavy with snow, picturesque alpine villages, log fires and glühwein create a magical atmosphere. At just over 1000m, the village of Bach is in a quiet valley in the northern Tirol, with the Lechtal Alps to the south and the Allgäu Alps to the north.
Over 200 miles of skiing in six areas - including the Kaunertal Glacier
Wow! We have found a real gem for our new downhill skiing holiday. Access to six fantastic skiing areas, based in a fabulous spa hotel in the Upper Inn Valley – a week’s skiing doesn’t get much better than this.
Experience cross-country skiing and some Austrian Gemütlichkeit
NEW Welcome to a new cross-country skiing holiday that offers either a gentle introduction or more challenging opportunities at Fulpmes in the Austrian Tirol. The town is set in the lovely Stubaital, where the valley ascends up to the glaciated 3000 plus metre peaks that form the border with Italy.
A Swiss delight.
Situated high on a mountain plateau in the Bernese Oberland, Kandersteg is very much a traditional Swiss village.Kandersteg offers around 35 miles of marked winter walking paths, many of which are on the plateau and lower slopes. We can walk to the Oeschi forest; enchanting with beautiful snow covered trees.
