Walking in Competa
Superb walking in Southern Spain from our Andalucian base in Competa
OverviewThe Andalucian town of Competa is barely mentioned in any of the guide books on Southern Spain. This small town of traditional white-washed houses and a scattering of red roofs, drapes itself over the hill side, adhering to the natural contours of the terrain.
Ideally situated for a great holiday in the fresh air, there’s a good network of footpaths, passing olive groves and valleys of orchards. Many paths and tracks give us a good mix of short and long walks into the hills and to charming villages with tiny streets of white houses and ancient churches. Once in the high country we have frequent wonderful panoramic views and occasional glimpses of the Mediterranean in the distance.
Local transport allows us to wander further afield; you may like to take the bus on the free day into Malaga to explore and shop in this busy but pleasant city.
