Walking in Colourful Cuba
A wonderful journey through an island forgotten by time
OverviewCuba! A land of political intrigue, the turquoise blues of the Caribbean, lush tropical forests, and colourful flora and fauna. The reality is a unique and wonderful place!
We walk in the fascinating landscapes of Cuba and discover its rich colonial history, dating from the landing of Columbus. Both Trinidad and Havana are World Heritage Sites. Cuba was the staging post for the convoys of gold-laden galleons returning to Spain, part of the fabled Spanish Main.
We fly into Havana and then travel to the Sierra del Rosario Mountains with three nights at Vi-ales and one at Soroa. Here we explore the rare Karst rock formations of the Vi-ales Valley.
We fly to Baracoa to walk where more than 500 years earlier, Columbus landed, and then to Santiago, Cuba's second city. Stopping at Camaguay we continue to old Trinidad, and walk in the Sierra del Escambray. Finally to Havana with time to explore what must rank amongst the world's most beautiful cities.
This holiday has a pioneer status to indicate the spirit of adventure, as things don't always go as expected - it's the Cuban way! However we should get out into the hills for walks on eight days.
Please ask about extending your stay in Havana at the end of the holiday.
