Walking in beautiful Samos

Aegean Island hiking on Samos, the best of island life
Overview

The island of Samos is the closest part of Greece to Turkey. The upper part of Samos Town, known as Vathy, away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour and where the air is cooler, is our base for the week as we explore this verdant island. The narrow winding alleyways lead to tranquil shady squares with wonderful tavernas and cafès where you can watch the world go by.

Our walks take us on inland tracks past olive groves and vineyards, through quiet mountain villages, and along rugged coastlines, with stunning panoramic views as our reward. We’ll stop in small tavernas for lunch or perhaps enjoy a picnic under a shady tree and we often end our day at a quiet beach for a refreshing swim.

In early spring, the island comes alive with an abundance of flora so our May 03 and May 10 2012 and May 02 and May 09 2013 departures allow more leisurely walking to appreciate the outstanding flowers.
