Pedal & Walk

We believe that some of the best walking and sightseeing holidays we can offer are combined with a few days to explore the surrounding countryside by bike.

We have offered you walking holidays in some of the world’s finest places since 1946 and now offer a little bit more with our new Pedal & Walk holidays.

A mountain biking holiday doesn’t need to be on a par with the Tour de France, and we want to make sure anyone can come along with our friendly, experienced leaders. Walking and cycling holidays can be a nice easy pedal along cycle paths, canal banks and quiet country lanes. No experience is required for your cycling holidays, beyond the ability to ride a bike!

You need take nothing with you for our cycling holidays, as everything will be supplied. In terms of clothing, some people may prefer to be clad head to toe in figure hugging lycra, although we would suggest a pair of shorts and T-shirt is probably more appropriate for what we have in mind.

In Burgundy we will stay in Auxerre. While the local hills are best tackled on foot, the many canals that cross the region offer perfect traffic-free cycling along the flat canal towpaths. The local food and drink has a pretty good reputation too – perfect for refuelling after a time spent walking and cycling!

In the Rhine valley, a wonderful area for a mountain biking holiday or walking and cycling holidays, we will stick to cycle paths and enjoy the stunning views (with care whilst cycling, of course!) of the mountainous valley sides that typify the terrain.

The Netherlands are the spiritual home of European cycling and no European country is more welcoming to cyclists or offers a better infrastructure with cycle paths everywhere. We will cycle by beaches and bulb fields, windmills and dykes enjoying the simple pleasure of this beautiful (and flat) country.

Take a look at the selection below to get things rolling!
