Holidays with Two Grades of Walking
We now offer two walks each day at several of our centres. Here you'll have the choice of an easier or harder walk each day. Sometimes the walks on offer will be similar - one taken at a slower pace than the other. On other days the walks will be quite distinct. Maybe you would like to have a go at a harder grade one day, maybe you like to take some time out occasionally with an easier walk. We believe this flexibility will appeal to many of you and look forward to your feedback.
John has been a compulsive traveller and walks leader since high school. Having completed the Three Peaks challenge of ascending Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon within 24 hours he's also clearly got an adventurous streak. These days he leads mainly in Greece and Turkey with the odd trip to other destinations which have attracted his attention.
Our Holidays with Two Grades of Walking
Walking in the footsteps of the great Alfred Wainwright.
The English Lake District must be one of the most beautiful and dramatic walking areas in this country. A compact area of rugged mountainsides, high summits and open ridges, lakes and lakeside paths
With lakes, castles and stunning alpine views too!
Our holiday is based in the charming small Bavarian village of Bad Kohlgrub in the Ammer valley. During our week we’ll walk to beautiful lakes and waterfalls near Bad Bayersoien and Murnau, walk in and around the high mountains above Oberammergau and Garmisch, and visit some stunning Rococo buildings.
The perfect mountain walking holiday in Austria
A fortnight in the picturesque Stubai valley has everything you could wish from a summer holiday in the Alps. Our base is Fulpmes, just a short journey through the mountains from the beautiful city of Innsbruck. The good local buses and cable car system allow us to fully explore the area, whatever grade of walking is chosen.
Wonderful hiking in Austria from our 4 star spa hotel in Ladis, Austria
One and two week guided walking holidays in Austria’s Upper Inn Valley. Ladis rests on the western slopes of the Upper Inn Valley, at a height of nearly 1200m, on what the locals call the ‘sunshine terrace’. We can use chairlifts and cable cars to get up to the Komperdell ridge and walk by the Weisssee glacier; or try a tougher walk such as the Furgler.
Five lands, great walks.
Well known names but lesser known walking, the Cinque Terre and the Ligurian coast offer some superb coastal views and various grades of walking. Portofino, a resort for the beautiful people, is close by and adds an extra dimension. After all the walking our beach front hotel is a great place to enjoy a quick dip before dinner.
Walking in a rustic and historical part of Sicily.
Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is richly diverse, steeped in history with many sights and experiences not to be missed. Francavilla is a typical small Sicilian town just ten miles inland from the coastal resort of Taormina. The ruins of the ancient castle overlooks the inhabitants and the old winding streets evoke images of its medieval past.
Enjoy the charm and beauty of the most picturesque lakes in the world.
The most picturesque in the world, Lakes Maggiore and Como in Italy resonate with romanticism. On this holiday, enjoy Italian walking amongst the green mountains, above blue waters and through ancient villages which carry the patina of ages gone by.
One or two weeks enjoying superb mountain walking.
Between the high peaks of the Alps to the north and the Po Valley to the south lies some of the most enticing walking to be had on the Italian peninsula. Relatively unknown outside Italy, the alpine foothills of the Altopiano Trentino offer everything you could wish from a walking holiday at this grade.
