Holidays with Two Grades of Walking
We now offer two walks each day at several of our centres. Here you'll have the choice of an easier or harder walk each day. Sometimes the walks on offer will be similar - one taken at a slower pace than the other. On other days the walks will be quite distinct. Maybe you would like to have a go at a harder grade one day, maybe you like to take some time out occasionally with an easier walk. We believe this flexibility will appeal to many of you and look forward to your feedback.
Our Holidays with Two Grades of Walking
Walking the coast and countryside of the far west of England
Nestling between two bays the coast and countryside around St Ives offers some of the best walking in the South West. The quirky narrow streets, tightly packed cottages and picturesque harbour are a joy to explore and there's a wealth of small shops, galleries and places to enjoy a cream tea.
NO Single Room Supplement
Walking in the footsteps of the great Alfred Wainwright.
The English Lake District must be one of the most beautiful and dramatic walking areas in this country. A compact area of rugged mountainsides, high summits and open ridges, lakes and lakeside paths
Moderate or challenging walking on the Garden Isle of Madeira
NEW This beautiful botanical island of Madeira, lays just 350 miles off the African coast. Famed for its levadas and flowers it is an excellent walking destination with an equable year round climate. Some walks take us along levadas – the irrigation waterways ingeniously engineered both over and through the rock to bring water from high mountain springs, there are well over 1,000 miles of them on the island. Others explore peaceful mountain valleys and coastal tracks follow the line of rugged sea cliffs with spectacular views.
With lakes, castles and stunning alpine views too!
Our holiday is based in the charming small Bavarian village of Bad Kohlgrub in the Ammer valley. During our week we’ll walk to beautiful lakes and waterfalls near Bad Bayersoien and Murnau, walk in and around the high mountains above Oberammergau and Garmisch, and visit some stunning Rococo buildings.
A wealth of alpine walking in Austria's Salzburgerland
NEW Maria Alm is in the Hochkönig region of Austria, in the Salzburgerland close to the border with Germany. The valley is dominated by the rocky peaks of the Hochkönig Massif which provides a wonderful backdrop for much of the walking in this area. The valley boasts 349km of hiking paths which are well marked and well maintained. The variety of walking is superb, including forest paths, pastureland and higher mountain trails.
The perfect mountain walking holiday in Austria
A fortnight in the picturesque Stubai valley has everything you could wish from a summer holiday in the Alps. Our base is Fulpmes, just a short journey through the mountains from the beautiful city of Innsbruck. The good local buses and cable car system allow us to fully explore the area, whatever grade of walking is chosen.
Five lands, great walks.
Well known names but lesser known walking, the Cinque Terre and the Ligurian coast offer some superb coastal views and various grades of walking. Portofino, a resort for the beautiful people, is close by and adds an extra dimension. After all the walking our beach front hotel is a great place to enjoy a quick dip before dinner.
Walking in a rustic and historical part of Sicily.
Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is richly diverse, steeped in history with many sights and experiences not to be missed. Francavilla is a typical small Sicilian town just ten miles inland from the coastal resort of Taormina. The ruins of the ancient castle overlooks the inhabitants and the old winding streets evoke images of its medieval past.
