The West Mendip Way
Over the Mendip Hills from Wells to Weston-Super-Mare.
OverviewHere’s a 30 mile trail linking some of the best scenery, villages and inns of the Mendip Hills starting at the beautiful Cathedral in the City of Wells and taking us through Wookey Hole, the Ebbor Gorge, Cheddar Gorge, over the Mendip plateau, along the lovely Wavering Down, up Bleadon Hill and down to the end of the trail at the golden sands of Weston-Super-Mare.
The undulating limestone and sandstone ridge of the Mendip Hills rises to just over 1,000ft and the rocky outcrops, hilltops, valleys and gorges of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provide an ideal setting for an exhilarating short walking break. We’ll enjoy the trail over 3 comfortable walking days:
- Wells to Cheddar. About 12 miles.
- Cheddar to Loxton. About 11 miles.
- Loxton to Weston-super-Mare. About 9 miles.
