The Lost World of the Incas

A magnificent high level walk to Machu Picchu
Overview

Trek through the stunning scenery of the Andes. We avoid the over-subscribed Inca Trail and trek through remote valleys past native villages, still arriving at a stunning viewpoint overlooking the ruins at Machu Picchu.

We fly to Lima, have a day to explore, then fly to Cuzco at 3330m. We take a little time to acclimatise and explore, then on to the village of Ollantaytambo (2750m) in the Sacred Valley. The highest point on the trek is Incachiriasca at 4818m.

We’ve allowed for a free day, although a walk will be available. Trekking days will normally have between five and seven hours of walking; all kit and equipment is carried by mules. We’re heading for the Inca ruins at Machu Picchu, one of the wonders of the world. A more detailed itinerary is available on request.
