The Edge of Wales
A stunning coastal path down the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales.
OverviewIn Medieval times, this remote corner of north west Wales became a haven for Celts fleeing the persecution from the invading Saxons, who found sanctuary on Bardsey Island, which became a place of pilgrimage.
We'll follow the pilgrim path through magical scenery across hill and beach, over moor and fields of grazing sheep. The signs of the pilgrimage are evident everywhere, we will pass tiny churches and holy wells, each day, all beautifully kept.
In many places on the coast, seals are often seen and the bird life is marvellous. You can visit Bardsey Island before heading for home on the last day of the holiday.
We start from Clynnog Fawr, about 10 miles down the Llyn Peninsula from Caernarfon, and walk just over 40 miles generally south west on good paths over undulating terrain on the north coast, never climbing more
than 1,000ft.
We have four days walking from 8.5 to 13 miles a day and a day trip to Bardsey Island, hopefully as the fitting finale to our trip. On most days, we'll cross a beach, and as there's no hurry, there will be plenty of time to dip your toes in. There are villages and pubs on the way too.
