Snowshoeing in the Pyrenees
Stunning winter landscapes, clean fresh air and fantastic light!
OverviewIn winter the craggy peaks of the Pyrenees are all the more beautiful for a blanket of snow; join us to explore this winter walker’s paradise. We stay in Font Romeu, a charming French resort with a spectacular mountain setting and stunning mountain views into Spain and Andorra. The resort has a laid-back atmosphere and our hotel, the Sun Valley, is right in the heart of the village. This cosy, family run hotel is aptly named, as Font Romeu holds the reputation for being the sunniest winter resort in France. (Happily it’s high enough at 1850 metres not to melt the snow though!)
Our snowshoeing walks take place in the surrounding landscapes and our experienced local guides will ensure we take the best routes, and explore otherwise inaccessible winter landscapes. There’s the clean, fresh air and fantastic light for which the area is renowned all the more enjoyable by the tranquillity of walking in the snow in total peace and quiet.
Afterwards, there will be time to explore the village or simply relax in the hotel’s own rooftop health club, with jacuzzi and sauna, and amazing views of the Pyrenees to enjoy. Alternatively, why not visit one of the local thermal spas and immerse yourself in the (warm!) waters of their outdoor pools - as the sun goes down.
