Richmond and the Eastern Dales
"God had finished making heaven and, with the bits leftover, made the Yorkshire Dales. 5 nights.
OverviewWalk the limestone hills and lovely valleys of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We’ll enjoy some cracking walks in tranquil Wensleydale, famous for its cheese, the falls at Aysgarth and as the setting for James Herriott’s veterinary adventures and neighbouring Swaledale, the park’s northernmost valley with its grandeur of high ridges, moors and classic Dales villages such as Reeth and Keld.
We’re based at Richmond for this exploration of the breathtaking scenery of the Eastern Dales, an historical Yorkshire Dales market town with its Norman Castle, Georgian architecture, cobbled market place, monuments and abbeys and the fast glowing River Swale.
We’ll be including some walking along the edge or over the adjacent moorland using parts of Wainwright’s Coast-to-Coast route and the Pennine Way. To get a full flavour of the Dales we’ll also be calling-in at spots like Castle Bolton and the walled castle in Richmond itself.
