Portugal, Canaries & Cape Verde

Winter sun walking on Atlantic archipelagos and Portugal's coast.
Overview

In November we have a really special cruise spending three days in the Cape Verde Islands. We call into three of these islands, 400 miles off the coast of Senegal. On the island of São Vicentewe have a walk through the attractive colonial city ofMindelo, followed by a walk to the top of Monte Verde for fabulous views over this arid and mountainous island. On Santiago we walk through a verdant valley where mangoes and sugar cane are grown to the ancient capital of Cidade Velha. Santo Antão, is the most spectacular island in Cape Verde. Our dramatic walk from the island's heights circles an extinct volcanic crater before descending with fabulous views into the lush Paul valley.

On the way down south we call into Portimão on the Algarve. Just to the west is some of the best walking on the Algarve, between Luz and Salema. The coastal path takes us over limestone bluffs and across beaches. We also hike on Tenerife, and on the way home on Lanzarote and have a guided sightseeing walk around Lisbon.
