Oman Adventure

A taste of exotic Arabia
Overview

The Arabian peninsula evokes images of desert landscapes, majestic forts and palaces, bustling market places, and ancient cultures & traditions. Oman is one of the most mountainous regions of Arabia; an endless coastline of white, sandy beaches; sand dunes rising to over 100 metres in height; and stunning vistas. Being virtually closed to tourists until the 1970s, the country remains appealingly “untrodden”!

Our adventure starts in Muscat, the country’s capital. We travel to Nizwa, along a road that splits the eastern and western Hajar mountains, from where we’ll explore the impressive Jebel Akhdar mountain range, rising to 3,000m; visit the famous animal market; walk in the surrounding mountains and wadis and explore the bustling souk.

The red dunes of Wahiba Sands offer a unique landscape, which we’ll explore in 4x4 vehicles. In Ras al Hadd, the most easterly point in Arabia, we’ll take an evening beach walk to see turtles and their breeding grounds.

Returning to Muscat, we’ll enjoy a dhow cruise and see the city at twilight before heading to the airport for our flight home.
