OverviewNorth Cyprus is a country of great warmth, not only the endless sunny days, but the friendliness of the locals too. During the week we stay just outside Kyrenia, nestled on the north coast of Cyprus between the sea and the mountains to the south. The town is in a great spot with an idyllic harbour, Venetian castle and back streets that invite exploration.
Our days offer a variety of experiences as we walk on the slopes, in valleys and along tracks with excellent views as we ramble our way across the countryside. During the week we can visit picturesque Bellapais Abbey with its fine Gothic architecture and 900 year old St Hilarion Castle. It’s possible to visit the medieval walled city of Famagusta on a free day.
Greek churches, mosques, the enjoyment of refreshments in ancient villages, and pleasant wandering in the attractive countryside and hills above the coastal plain all help make this a memorable holiday.
And after a great day in the Kyrenian hills, we can relax and enjoy the many facilities that our hotel - Riverside Holiday Village - has to offer.
Note: Departures on 7, 14 and 31 March 2013 are for those who want to enjoy the abundant flora of the area.

I started leading for Countrywide Holidays in 1970 and spent summers at their guest houses in Snowdonia, the Lake District and Scotland. I went on to act as a guide for the Austrian Alpine Club. My career and family commitments took me away from leading but when the opportunity arose I started again in the late 1990s.
