KwaZulu Natal - a World Heritage Discovery
Exploring nature's wonder-land; walking, game viewing and sightseeing in wonderful South Africa!
OverviewFlying to Durban we head north to Hluhluwe for five days of game drives, game walks with rangers, boat safari on the St Lucia wetlands and a visit to the living museum of Zulu life.
We then travel west to Dundee and the area known as the Battlefields - Rourke’s Drift, Fugitives Drift and Spieonkop where we take an unforgettable step back into history.
Moving on, we head for the majestic and unrivalled Drakensberg Mountains - these have to be seen to be believed and so wonderfully ’Out of Africa’! Our time here is split between two centres, one in the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg Park and the other on the edge of the Royal Natal National Park.
Cathedral Peak is our first centre and probably one of our best featured hotels. We can walk straight from the hotel out onto the peaks and buttresses of the surrounding mountains. There are walks here to suit all abilities but for those who like to relax, watch and listen to the mountains; this hotel is the place to do just that.
Moving on to our second centre in this region, we stay at the family run Cavern Drakensberg Resort, a great place for hikers who again, can head straight into the mountains on foot and appreciate the beautiful flora and fauna and all sorts of wildlife.
