Hiking in Andorra
Lakes and valleys of Andorra. One or two weeks from our base at Encamp
OverviewFor over 40 years now we have enjoyed scrambling over the rugged peaks of Andorra from a comfortable base in Encamp. However this intriguing little country has delights to offer at any walking grade and this new version of a long time favourite will give equal pleasure to a wider range of walkers.
The magnificent peaks rising to 3000m along the French and Spanish border provide a photogenic backdrop as we explore the quiet valleys and mountain lakes of the principality.
Many walks lead to lonely mountain lakes which are among Andorra’s chief glories, such as Tristaina or Sorteny. The gondola lift from Encamp and high mountain roads allow easy access to high terrain at over 2000m with moderate effort. The lower grade allows time to bask in the wide mountain views, and a number of historic Romanic churches with unique frescos can be visited. On rest days it is possible to visit the Spanish town of Seu de Urgell.
There is much more to be discovered in the ’Country of the Pyrenees’ than the shoppers or skiers ever imagined.
The departures on 27 May and 3 June will be at a more leisurely pace to allow time to appreciate the flowers and plants.
