Exploring Indochina

Travel away from the tourist trail in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia
Overview

Indochina contains some of the most remote and beautiful scenery in Southern Asia. This Eastern journey promises to be the holiday of a lifetime.

We fly to Bangkok and explore this beautiful city, with a full day sightseeing including a visit to the Grand Palace complex and a boat ride along the canals of the rural western suburbs. We then fly to Chiang Rai and visit the Golden Triangle with an overnight stay at Chiang Khong. Continuing into Laos we spend two leisurely days cruising down the Mekong with an overnight stay at Pak Beng before reaching Luang Prabang. While here we visit the National Museum, drive out to the Kuangsi waterfall and climb Phousi Mount for beautiful sunset views of the city.

Leaving the river we travel due south by coach to Vang Vieng to relax and wander amongst the rural villages to get a feel for local life. We continue south to Vientiane, the capital, with a full day here before flying south to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. After a look around town we travel north by road to Siem Reap close to Angkor Wat which is undoubtedly one of the wonders of the world; a huge temple and tomb complex covering an area of 60 square miles. Built as a Hindu temple in the 12th century it became the centre of power of the Khmer regime that ruled much of South East Asia. After two days exploring these wonders we board a plane to fly to Bangkok and on to England.
