Cycling & Rambling in the Rhine
A week cycling and walking amongst waterside castles and vineyards
OverviewRamblers Worldwide are proud to introduce our tour Triathlon! We spend our week along the loveliest stretch of the Rhine between Mainz and Koblenz; we can walk, cycle and take the river boat to explore this beautiful part of the world. So not actually too strenuous!
With glorious views of what remains of over 50 medieval castles that line the banks of the river which runs through a 50 mile gorge, we walk in the footsteps of medieval minstrels and English Romantic poets; climb between river and hill-top castles, and take a pleasant cycle through picture-postcard villages, such as Eltville and Oestrich. This section has a gradient of only 1-2% so the cycling really is suitable for everybody. And once we have mastered the art of cycling we can cycle comfortably through the UNESCO World Heritage "Upper Central Rhine Valley", past vineyards and wine slopes. This promises to be a very pleasant holiday!
We will spend the week in the lively town of Rüdesheim, famous for its brandy and Riesling wines. We walk through areas of vineyards, visiting churches and maybe a hillside monastery on the way.
