Corfu - The Garden Isle
Highlights of the Corfu Trail
OverviewCorfu, the largest of Greece’s Ionian islands, has always been known for its exceptional beauty. The countryside is varied, with high wooded hillsides, abundant olive groves, rocky cliffs, coves and lovely sandy beaches. Visitors, particularly in May, will be amazed to see how green the landscape is, enhanced by the yellow and purple flowers of the eastern Mediterranean shrubs.
Our walks cover a large part of the island, mainly following paths and tracks, many of which are still used by local farmers today. Whilst most of the walks are in the island’s interior, where we’ll pass through the more traditional villages, we’ll also enjoy quiet coastal stretches and find time for swimming from beautiful coves and beaches. The terrain, while mostly stony underfoot, is quite varied in terms of ascent and descent, but there is also plenty of level walking too.
