Aeolian Islands Explorer
Discover the unspoilt delights of these unique islands.
OverviewThe Aeolian Islands, named after the Greek God Aeolus, are located just off the north coast of Sicily. This volcanic archipelago is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich history and is steeped in myth. The incredible variety of island terrain and scenery offers great walks with views across the deep blue Tyrrhenian Sea.
Our base is the largest island of Lipari, historically the most interesting with some wonderful archaeological sites. We’ll walk and explore its delights with visits to the other islands wherever possible. A free day could be spent exploring the beautiful island of Panarea with its Bronze Age settlement - there is so much to see and do; you’ll be spoilt for choice.
We stay at the three-star Hotel Rocce Azzurre, charmingly situated on the waterfront in a quiet area of Lipari. Evenings can be spent relaxing on the terrace overlooking the sea with a glass or two of local wine. Our first and last nights will be spent in Palermo on Sicily, a fascinating contrast to the Aeolian Islands
