A walking holiday in Namibia

Wide horizons, breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife.
Overview

Namibia is a country of magnificent contrasts with three distinct areas: the long narrow coastal Namib Desert, with its high dunes, dry riverbeds and beautifully eroded landscape, the central plateau with its rugged mountains interspersed with sand-filled valleys and endless plains and finally the fantastic red sand dunes of the Kalahari Desert.

Our journey starts on a high, with the beautiful drive from Windhoek airport into town, with possible baboon sightings on the way.

Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s largest game reserves. It boasts 114 species of mammal of which several are rare, including black rhino, the black-face impala and cheetah.

Twyfelfontein is renowned as one of the most impressive stone age art sites in the world. Every year new sites are discovered in the local mountains.

The coastal town of Swakopmund has a relaxed atmosphere and old-world charm. Its green lawns and palm trees create an oasis against a back-drop of the Namib Desert.

Sossusvlei, in southern Namibia, is an arid area of beautifully coloured dunes brought to life by each sunrise. Sesriem Canyon sits at the entrance to Sossusvlei, a narrow gorge cut into the desert. The Rostock Ritz overlooks the Namib Desert and Rocky Mountains as well as grassy plains where zebras graze. There is no better place to experience the Namib Desert and the view from the pool is amazing!

Nine of the days will be spent walking in temperatures that can be high and terrain that can at times be rough. We have our own transport with us throughout the holiday - please be aware that nearly all the roads are without tarmac and can be dusty and bumpy, so bring along your sense of adventure.
