Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust

In discussion with explorer Mark Wood

Mon 11 Dec 2023

Trustees of the Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust recently caught up with Mark Wood, renowned polar explorer who has undertaken expeditions to the most remote parts of the planet, to discuss how he brings the magic of the great outdoors to life for those who are unable to undertake such extreme challenges.

Mark explained,

“I use technology to bring the awe-inspiring experience of extreme outdoors environments to a wide range of people around the world to communicate just how special our planet is, and by doing so hope to encourage people of all abilities to get outside and enjoy it as well as taking greater care of it”.

Mark’s ambition to bring the beauty and magic of the great outdoors to life matches that of our Trust, which grants funds to organisations and individuals who share the same passion. The Trust has recently partnered with Mind Over Mountains and Adaptive Grand Slam, and funded the signposting and waymarking of three of the UKs most recognisable National Trails, The Cotswold Way, Pennine Bridleway and Thames Path.

In discussion with Mark, he went on to explain what drives his ambition and work.

“An inspiration for me is helping others achieve things they might not be able to achieve themselves and I’ve worked with the Scouts, Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Buzz Aldrin and many more to achieve this. Supporting others less fortunate than me this is something I build into every expedition I undertake."
