Enjoy 2 exciting weeks trekking in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps circling Europe's highest mountain, staying in huts and valley hotels. A great tour for the first time hutter.

Our high hutting tour in the Swiss and Italian Alps circles Monte Rosa, Europe's second highest peak. We stay in mountain huts but also Zermatt and Saas Fee.

The Gran Paradiso is a fantastic, little known, and as yet quite unspoiled Italian national park. Ibex on the dizzying cols, chamois in the empty valleys and ambling marmots are a common sight. Eagles and lammergeier also frequent these parts and edelweiss and vanilla orchids grow beside the paths.

For many a circuit of the Stubai Alps is the perfect hutting tour. Once we leave Innsbruck we are in the rarified world of mountain huts for nearly two weeks, rarely descending below 2000m, until we return to Innsbruck at the end.

Skiing

No previous experience is required for this holiday but you get a good workout on snowshoes! This part of the South Tirol has great routes and unrivalled views.

Austria knows how to do winter - trees heavy with snow, picturesque alpine villages, log fires and glüh­wein create a magical atmosphere. At just over 1000m, the village of Bach is in a quiet valley in the northern Tirol, with the Lechtal Alps to the south and the Allgäu Alps to the north.

The islands of The 'Bailiwick of Guernsey' lie in the Bay of St Malo and despite loyalty to the British crown since 1066, at only eight miles from the French coast at their nearest point, they inevitably have a 'taste of France'.

Jersey is compact; just twelve miles by nine it's the largest of the Channel Islands and great for a week's island walking. Beautiful scenery and fascinating small towns and villages, gardens and historic monuments.

This walk takes you on a west to east route from coastal Ravenglass to Penrith, with between 9 and 13 miles walked daily and ascents and descents ranging from under 500ft to over 2,000ft.

Starting in Ulverston market square, the Cumbria Way heads northwards to the great border city of Carlisle with daily walking distances of about 12 miles and ascents between 500ft and 1700ft a day.

Alfred Wainwright said 'that from this walk every lake, valley and mountain can be seen'. With average ascents of about 4,000ft per day, this is probably one of the most challenging walking weeks available in Britain.

This continuous walk, with two bases, follows the Hadrian's Wall National Trail. With its relatively easy terrain and lack of steep ascents, it should appeal to just about every reasonably fit walker!
