Serengeti is probably the most famous National Park on earth, but it’s not the
only jewel in Tanzania’s crown. Take this thrilling adventure with us for
exciting wildlife sightings, friendly locals, fascinating tribes and
contrasting landscapes from the Serengeti plains to the white sandy beaches of
journey starts at Moshi near the base of Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest
mountain, which on a clear day can be seen in the distance from the grounds of
our hotel. Next we continue to the mighty Ngorongoro Crater, an veritable Garden of Eden, the largest unflooded and
unbroken caldera in the world. At the bottom of the
crater we are amidst the densest collection of mammals on earth. Here hundreds
of thousands of hoofs tread across the savannah, and this is the best place in
the world to see rhinos in the wild up close. In the Serengeti the variety of
wildlife is overwhelming – lion, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, antelope – they are
all here, with any luck we may even spy a leopard.
we go on safari in the Tarangire National Park, in search of its huge elephant
herds, followed by
Manyara National Park, famous for its enormous variety of water birds,
flamingos, hippos and baboons. From here we head to the Usambara Mountains for
walks between villages and to viewpoints over spectacular scenery, meeting
friendly locals on the way. We end our journey on the exotic spice island of
Zanzibar. We spend one night in Stone Town where we enjoy a tour of this UNESCO
World Heritage site. We stroll through the intriguing narrow streets and
bazaars, and visit the former Sultans Palace, before moving east for some
serious tropical R&R and a spice tour.
