Mediterranean Voyager 3850 |
A three week circuit of the Adriatic combining days at sea with a wealth of historical sightseeing. | Linen suits. ports of call. poste restante. When you wave goodbye at Dover you would be forgiven for thinking that you were stepping back in time, travelling in style with fin de siècle society on a voyage to legendary Mediterranean ports. Leave the busy world behind on a cruise which allows us to experience a way of travelling that has suddenly become possible again. but this time with a good pair of walking shoes!
The journey starts with three days at sea, to relax, read, attend lectures, get to know your fellow passengers. rare treats these days. Cultural highlights over our three weeks on board the Black Watch are many and varied - the Doge's Palace and St Mark's Square in Venice, the red roofs of Dubrovnik, a fascinating walking tour of Lisbon, the old quarters and Castello of Cagliari, a visit to the Greek and Baroque splendours of Syracuse and the world that Carthage left behind in Tunis.
Whilst mainly an active sightseeing holiday, our cruise offers some fine walking as well. From our first port we walk amidst the lemon trees, cactus and cork oak in the Montes de Malaga. We'll mix sightseeing in Dubrovnik with a scenic walk in the hills behind. From Sibenik we can take the short journey to the Krka National Park with its forests and spectacular waterfalls.
Add to this the thrill of entering and leaving the Mediterranean through the straits of Gibraltar, a cruise through the volcanic Aeolian Islands and sunrise and sunset at sea, and you have such things as dreams are made on.
