Lycian Way, Coast & Mountains 2882 |
Explorations from Turkey's long-distance footpath | The ancient kingdom of Lycia, the country of light, on Turkey's Mediterranean Coast, has seen the feet of many ancient peoples. We follow in their steps staying in four centres along the Lycian trail.
Our private coach drops us at the beginning and picks us up at the end of our daily walks as well as taking us, and our bags, between centres.
From Kas we walk inland through ancient forests and along sections of wild and rocky coastline. En-route to Finike we visit Kekova Island which has the offshore ruins of a sunken ancient city, before moving on to Cirali where the Lycian Way is at its most challenging, circling the 2360m Tahtali Mountain.
Our last night is in Antalya, Turkey's fastest growing city, on a limestone plateau between the mountains and the sea.
