Cinque Terre & the Ligurian Alps 1840 |
Five lands, three centres | A paradise of rugged Mediterranean coastline and quiet green mountains awaits walkers on this three-centre holiday in the north-west Italian region of Liguria. Here, the little-visited and the world-renowned combine to produce a truly Italian experience.
Sestri Levante is an ideal base from which to explore the headlands, islands and romantic villages of this gem-like corner of Italy. Moving up away from the coast into the cooler hills we continue to our second centre, Varese Ligure. From here we have a chance to explore the hills. Santo Stefano d'Aveto, our final centre, stands at the head of a valley, approached through isolated villages. Walks here take us through meadows, beech and pine woods, along easy ridges and up to 1600m view-filled summits.
