Champneys Forest Mere hotel sits in acres of beautiful park land just south of Haslemere in the South Downs National Park. It must have the most impressive approach of any hotel in the Countrywide brochure with a drive that wind 2 miles through forest and heath land. Turn a corner and the hotel can be seen across the mere itself.
We are spoilt for choice of walks. We will take the classic walk from Thursley through the Devil’s Punchbowl, some of the finest scenery on the South Downs. We explore Frensham ponds built 500 years ago as fish farms for the Bishop of Winchester. Add in a couple of rural strolls to enjoy the best of this lovely area and we have a very attractive walking programme.
